About Us

Dove House Advocacy Services was founded in 1979 and became officially incorporated in 1983. Originally called Domestic Violence Sexual Assault of Jefferson county, until December 2009 when the agency moved into it's new location at 1045 10th St Port Townsend WA and became Dove House Advocacy Services. Our larger and better designed service facility allows us to serve more clients and expand the number of groups and classes we offer.

Dove House is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit corporation and is Jefferson County's sole provider of free and confidential services to victims of all crimes, including family and sexual violence as well as general crime. This past fiscal year of 2011 Dove House Advocacy Services helped victims of crime transition to safer lives:

Dove House has a confidential shelter and four transitional apartments. Our goal for each woman, or family, in the Transitional Living Program is that, within two years, they will amass the resources and skills they need—education, employment, financial management, parenting and personal development—to secure and maintain permanent housing and live independent, violence-free lives.
