How You Can Get Involved
Everyone has a role to play in helping to end sexual and domestic violence and general crime. You don’t have to be an expert on these issues to make a difference. Based on your interests, skills, and resources we invite you to consider participating in this work in a variety of ways.

Make a Contribution
No matter what size a gift, your support will make a difference. There are many opportunities for you to make a contribution as an individual, business, or a foundation. Dove House depends on the generosity of our donors. Your financial support is an investment in safety, dignity, and liberty.
Dove House welcomes all donations (food, clothing, personal care products, etc.) but  asks you to consider making a financial contribution that can go even further to
help our clients.

Here's what your gift can do:

• A $25 gift provides round trip transportation to appointments
• A $50 gift provides a one hour of one-on-one counseling OR sponsors one woman for one night at our emergency shelter.
• A $100 gift provides a victim involved in District or Family Court with two hours of assistance from our legal advocate
• A $250 gift allows us to present one school based educational workshop in community high schools
• A $1,000 gift provides a 3-session violence prevention program to local high schools students OR sponsors a mother and 2 children for one week at our emergency shelter.
• A $5,000 gift may provide a bedroom in our shelter for an entire year, allowing Dove House to provide life-saving emergency shelter and support services to children and their families.

• A $10,000 gift may provide healthy food for our Emergency Shelter for an entire year.
• Cash gifts
  - include cash, check, credit card, and electronic funds transfers. Did you know you can set up your credit card or checking account to be debited on a regular schedule of your choice making it as easy as possible for you to give to Dove House?

Stock/Security gifts - Gifts of long-term appreciated stock or mutual funds offer a quick, easy, and tax-efficient way to support Dove House, avoid capital gains tax as well as receive an income tax deduction for the appreciated value.

Planned Giving / Endowments – Gifts that keep on giving. Many people regularly volunteer and/or give financial assistance to their favorite non-profit organizations... but when they're gone, their support is greatly missed. By leaving a gift of any size in your will, or a gift from your estate, you can continue to help organizations that are making an important difference in the community. Please talk with your attorney and Dove House if you are interested in a gift that keeps on giving!

Honorarium/Memorial Gifts – A great way to honor or remember a special person in your life.

Donate Needed Items
In kind donations such as phone cards, gift certificates, bus tickets, and food items are much appreciated.  Check our Shelter Wish List for current needs.

Donate Your Used Cell Phone
Dove House collects used cell phones to be refurbished and given to victims of domestic violence. Phones that are unable to be refurbished are recycled, with proceeds going directly to client services programs.

Take Action
Sign up for our email alerts and become part of our statewide policy and legislative response. Our alerts provide detail on the issue, talking points, and instructions on who to contact.
Volunteer
We have volunteers who assist us in many ways, including working with donations, getting groceries for the shelter, providing childcare during parent's appointments, and organizing collections of needed supplies for the shelter. Volunteers select their hours and jobs to match their skills, training and availability.

Help your friend or family member who is being abused
• call police if you see/hear abuse
• ask if they´re safe or need someone to talk to
• explain that FREE and CONFIDENTIAL help is available help for victims and their children at Dove House Advocacy Services
• offer a ride to a local program, a place to make a phone call, or to baby-sit while they attend appointments
Help your friend or family member who is an abuser
• call police if you see/hear abuse
• tell them there are no excuses for abuse and they may lose their families, friends, homes and jobs if it doesn´t stop
• hold them accountable for their behavior
• support their efforts to locate and obtain appropriate batterer intervention or sex offender treatment
