Jefferson County Transgender Support Group
JCTS MEETINGS

We meet on the Second Thursday of each month from 6:30pm-8pm.

Our meetings are conversational and personal- we start with a check in and we have no set agenda. We talk about the needs that are present in the room. No one is obligated to speak or share and everything is kept confidential within the group.

Our meetings are open to trans*, non-binary, and questioning individuals, and if a member would like to bring along a support person (partner, child, parent, friend, etc.) they are welcome to join as well. At this time, support folks are not invited to join without attending with a trans member.

We have been meeting monthly in Port Townsend, WA since our founding in April of 2015.

Monthly reminders are sent out before each meeting.

NOTE: at this time we are holding hybrid meetings online and in person in Port Townsend.

GROUND RULES
  • We are a confidential group, meaning that anything that is said and the identities of people present at this meeting is to be kept to ourselves. Do not approach or identify individuals in this meeting in public unless discussed beforehand.
  • No one is right; no one is wrong. In particular, there is no single correct view of sex, gender, social role, or human sexuality. This group is for discussion and support, not debate.
  • Talk about yourself and your own experience. You may ask questions of others, but do not challenge the validity of another’s personal experience.
  • We are a support group, and encourage others to share experiences that might relate to another’s, but do not provide directed advice unless invited to.
  • JCTS does not have a specific age limit (the lowest possible would be 13, as people in Washington State may seek independent medical care starting at that age) and yet at this time the group is really only prepared and appropriate for adults. We have connections with many young local transgender folks and families and if you are young or the parent of a young person we welcome your contact to find the resources and connections that would most benefit you and your family. We do occasional meet-ups and would be happy to start a young person support group if there is the desire.
